Dental Bonding

Dental bonding uses tooth-colored composite resin to repair or improve the appearance of a tooth. The material is shaped and hardened directly on the tooth in a single visit.

What It Fixes

Bonding is a versatile single-visit treatment that handles a range of cosmetic and minor structural issues. Common uses include repairing chipped or broken teeth, closing gaps between front teeth, improving teeth that are discolored and do not respond well to whitening, correcting slightly misshapen teeth, and evening out minor length discrepancies.

The composite resin is color-matched to the surrounding teeth, applied directly, sculpted into the right shape, and hardened with a curing light. No lab work required, no temporaries, one appointment.

Bonding vs. Veneers

Bonding and veneers address some of the same cosmetic concerns, and it is worth understanding the difference when deciding which makes sense for you.

Bonding is more affordable and is completed in a single visit without removing tooth structure. It works well for smaller repairs and moderate cosmetic changes. The composite material is somewhat more susceptible to staining and chipping over time than porcelain.

Veneers involve custom-fabricated porcelain shells and require enamel removal, making them a permanent change. They are more durable over the long term and can produce more dramatic cosmetic results. More information is available on our Porcelain Veneers page.
