How To Help Remineralize Your Teeth

Posted .

Did you know that your enamel is the strongest substance in your mouth? But even though your enamel is strong, it can weaken over time. And once your enamel is gone, it’s gone forever–but your enamel can strengthen itself through a process known as remineralization. Fortunately, while remineralization is a natural process, there are a few things you can consider doing to help the process along.

For instance, did you know that saliva is actually very important to the health of your smile? You see, your saliva can carry bacteria and food particles away from your teeth. Your saliva also produces minerals that will strengthen your teeth. You should also remember to brush and floss your teeth to remove excess plaque and bacteria.

Your toothpaste can actually help the remineralization process. If you choose a toothpaste with fluoride in it, you could enjoy extra protection. You see, fluoride can help you prevent tooth decay and cavities—as well as strengthen your enamel. When you choose a toothpaste, you may also want to look for a toothpaste with amorphous calcium phosphate and protein casein phosphopeptide. Both of these ingredients can strengthen your teeth.
