When the Soft Tissue Laser Is Used
The soft tissue laser is used in a range of gum and soft tissue procedures where precision and minimal trauma matter.
- Gum recontouring: reshaping the gumline for cosmetic reasons or to improve access for a restoration
- Periodontal therapy: bacterial reduction in periodontal pockets as part of gum disease treatment
- Removing soft tissue growths or lesions
- Reducing tooth sensitivity at the gumline
- Frenectomy: releasing a restrictive tongue tie or lip tie
The Patient Experience
Soft tissue laser procedures typically require little or no anesthetic, cause minimal bleeding, and heal faster than the same procedures done with a scalpel. This is not a marketing claim. It is the physical property of how the laser interacts with tissue: the energy seals blood vessels and nerve endings as it works, which reduces both bleeding and post-procedure sensitivity.
Recovery from laser gum procedures is generally shorter than recovery from conventional approaches. Most patients return to normal activity the same day.
