The Hygiene Team
Musso Family Dentistry's hygiene team includes Lori Long, who has been with the practice for 19 years, and Byanka Esqueda. When your hygienist knows your history, the care is more accurate and more personal.
Lori has seen the same patients through multiple decades of care. She knows which areas tend to build up, which patients clench or grind, and which pockets to watch. That kind of accumulated knowledge does not come from a chart. It comes from years.

What Happens at a Cleaning
A professional cleaning involves scaling to remove plaque and hardened tartar from the tooth surfaces, polishing to clean and smooth the enamel, and flossing to clear the spaces between teeth. The hygienist also assesses gum health, checking pocket depths and noting any areas of concern.
After the cleaning, one of the doctors performs an exam. X-rays are taken when clinically indicated, based on your history and risk factors. Not every visit requires new X-rays.
How Often
Most patients benefit from cleanings every six months. That interval is enough for most people to stay ahead of buildup and catch early changes before they become larger problems.
Patients with gum disease or elevated risk factors, including dry mouth, certain medications, or a history of periodontal treatment, may be recommended to come in more frequently. The hygienist will advise based on your specific situation.
