While your new dentures or partial is designed to custom fit securely in your mouth, you might still want to try using denture adhesive.

Many denture wearers and people with partials like denture adhesive to help give them a very solid fit, while at the same time also helping to block out food particles. If food particles are allowed to work their way between the denture or partial and the surface of your gums it can cause irritation and even inflammation.

When this happens you should remove your dentures or your partial and give it a thorough rinse to remove the food particles and any old denture adhesive. You should then dry them with a clean paper towel. This will provide you with a smooth clean surface to reapply new denture adhesive.

When you are shopping for denture adhesive, you want to always look for the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance. This seal represents that the ADA has subjected the product to rigorous testing and research to prove its safety and effectiveness.

If you’ve recently been fitted for a set of dentures or a partial and you have questions about the best way to secure them, or keep them clean, please feel free to call Musso Family Dentistry to schedule an appointment.
